ITS Private Cloud | Getting started
Please NOTE:   A VSKEY account is required for access to the VSS environment.
If you do not yet have a VSKEY account, please email   vss-vskey @ eis . utoronto . ca .

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Initialize your VSKEY account. (steps here ).

  2. Review the VSS VPN guidelines.

  3. Install and configure the VSS VPN client. (steps here ).

  4. (optional) try the introductory micro-course "Managing Virtual Machines on the ITS Private Cloud".

  5. Visit the VSS Portal:
    • the VSS Portal expects a valid VSKEY account.
    • the VSS Portal requires that a VSS VPN be running.
    • network choices for a new VM which does not require a specific IP address:
      • VSS-CGN for systems which should not be accessed from off-campus.
      • VSS-PUBLIC for systems expected to be accessible from off-campus.
      The new VM will be assigned a permanent IP address via DHCP.

      Note:   IP address space is limited in these network segments.
      If you plan to have more than a handful of new VMs, please contact Network Engineering to get a separate network segment assigned for your use.

  6. Connect to your VM(s) using one of:
    1. The vSphere Client via https://vcenter.eis.utoronto.ca/ui
    2. The Console Button on the [screen] icon in the VSS Portal.

  7. (optional) Review some collected URLs for accessing VSS services.
